It has been a long time since we’ve seen this much snow in the Netherlands — especially snow that actually stays. In fact, I can’t really remember the last time it happened (though I’m sure there are some old photos hidden away in books up in the attic).
Whenever my schedule allows, I love heading outdoors. Out to the open polder for wide, expansive views, and of course into the forest in search of woodland birds. They were hard to spot this time, but fortunately this beautiful — and surprisingly fearless — robin was foraging nearby and allowed itself to be photographed up close.
Robins are always a joy to see, but against the white backdrop of snow, their colors stand out even more beautifully.
