Now that Christmas Day has passed, the weather is pleasant, and we are only expecting visitors later today, I still have just enough time for a short birding outing. With the sun already beginning to sink, the light is beautiful. In a field with sheep, great egrets, grey herons, and cattle egrets are foraging across the pasture. Their plumage is already starting to show lovely colours, with subtle yellow tones appearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the car, I was able to closely follow a hunting cattle egret, and right in front of me it snatched a field mouse from the grass! It swallowed its catch just in time before a great egret tried to steal it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
