Where we had gone on holiday to Portugal several times in recent years, this year we decided to do things differently. A three-week summer holiday, divided between two different countries: Germany, followed by the final two weeks in Piedmont, Italy.
In the Sauerland we enjoyed the flora and fauna (especially the fauna): various butterflies, a pair of red-backed shrikes just around the corner from our accommodation, and one evening a fox crossing our path.
